Simply Naked Wines
Unoaked Cabernet Sauvignon - AcAMPO CA - 13.5%ABV
by Derek Brewlander | September 6th, 2012
Alright, this is my first wine review so bear with me! Lets begin with the winery. Simply Naked is a California based winery who carved out a nice niche for themselves by aging all of their wine in stainless steel containers rather than oak in order to keep all the true characteristics of the grapes used in the wine making progress….and when it comes to the Cabernet Sauvignon, it definitely makes for a noticeable difference. The Cab’s aroma is slightly fruity with a hint of cedar, very nice. It is medium bodied and does indeed have a nice fresh non oaky taste to it. This Cab has deep flavor with notes of cinnamon spices, plum, and black cherry and a nice dry finish with that slight hint of cedar. Not getting that oaky flavor definitely makes this Cab different from a lot of others that I have tried (oak’s not necessarily a bad thing, just different flavors!). It is certainly an easy sipping wine that would be outstanding with a grilled steak or a sharp hard cheese. Oh and did I mention that it is just around 8 dollars per bottle? Come on down and grab a bottle for yourself. For the price, you absolutely can’t go wrong. Cheers!
